How to choose

Three things worth knowing before you buy gear.

Measure your head

Wrap a tape measure about 2 cm above your eyebrows. Pick the helmet size whose range includes that number, then fine-tune the fit with the retention dial.

Match the lens to the light

Category 3 lenses suit bright sun. Lighter tints work better in forests and flat light, and mirrored lenses cut glare on open roads.

Replace after any crash

A helmet is designed to absorb one impact. Retire it after a fall, even without visible cracks, and after a few years of regular use.
